The Hope Institute of Uganda
Annual Report for Jan-Dec 2023
Introduction:
Hope Institute is a non-profit organization which has been in existence for about 20 years and supports education, health care services, business, and leadership development.
Education:
Hope Institute provides educational subsidies and scholarships for children in Uganda whose families are unable to pay the cost themselves. However, recently it was determined that it’s more economical to run schools than providing scholarships. Today Hope Institute has 2 primary schools ( Joy Children’s Center and Hope Academy).
JOY CHILDREN’S CENTER;
Joy Children Center is located at Buluba fishing village in Mayuge district. More details about JCC are attached in the shared link.THE END OF YEAR SCHOOL REPORT.docx
Scholarships:
Hillsdale College awarded a scholarship to one of our students, Paul Bwamiki. He is majoring in Nursing.
Dr. Alexander awarded a five year scholarship to Joel Magemeso to study human medicine at Kabale University, Uganda.
Compass Church-Janesville made a donation of USD 2000. This money was used to pay school fees for 40 children. Some of these children have completed the Uganda Ordinary level and Uganda Advanced level certificates. We need additional resources to empower them with skills that can give them money so they become financially independent.
C. Hope Academy
Hope Academy Nsuube is located along Jinja kamuli road in Jinja district. More information about the school is attached in the shared link.HOPE ACCADEMY NSUUBE.docx
2: Leadership development:
We believe that leadership is everything. We are therefore being intentional about mentoring young people to take up leadership roles at HIU. Our strategy is to start with children who have benefited from the Hope Scholarship. One example of such children is Ms. Grace Bwiiza, who is now running one of our schools-Joy Children’s Centre.

4: Health:
Wellness clinic
Feasibility study in Mayuge district: We initiated talks with the Global Health Ministries and the Lutheran Church to conduct a feasibility study in Mayuge district, Uganda, to inform interventions for improvement of the health outcomes in that area.
